AC Milan Interested in Signing Harry Maguire from Manchester United
AC Milan is reportedly among several clubs in Italy interested in signing Harry Maguire from Manchester United. The Red Devils are said to be willing to listen to offers for Maguire, who has been considered surplus to requirements by manager Erik ten Hag.
Maguire’s situation at Manchester United has been tumultuous, as he was stripped of the captaincy over the summer and has only started one Premier League game this season. His limited game time has led to speculation about his future at the club, with Maguire himself expressing his frustration at not playing regularly.
The 30-year-old defender almost left Old Trafford in the summer, with a potential move to West Ham collapsing. However, with his game time still not improving, Maguire has hinted that he may be open to a January exit. This news has reignited interest from West Ham, but AC Milan is also monitoring the situation.
A move to Italy could appeal to Maguire, as he could follow in the footsteps of former Manchester United and England defender Chris Smalling, who has enjoyed a revival in form since joining Roma in 2019. Serie A has proven to be a popular destination for English players looking to prove themselves, with Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori finding success at Roma and AC Milan, respectively.
Despite the interest from other clubs, Maguire still has the opportunity to revive his Manchester United career. The club’s defense has looked shaky in his absence, and he could potentially be the solution to their defensive problems.
Currently sitting 10th in the Premier League table, Manchester United is eight points off the leaders Tottenham. They have a crucial match against Sheffield United coming up, where they will be looking to improve their position in the league.
In the meantime, Maguire is expected to start for England in their clash against Italy on Tuesday night. A victory for the Three Lions will secure qualification for Euro 2024.
