‘A lot to answer for’ – Jurgen Klopp apologises to Liverpool fans following poor defeat to Brighton as Gabby Agbonlahor questions the manager’s future at Anfield

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp could be seen apologising to his side’s fans after their loss to Brighton on Saturday.

Gabby Agbonlahor has now questioned if the Reds need to find a new manager, with recent performances being sub-par.

Brighton beat Liverpool 3-0 on the south coast, with Solly March netting a brace and Danny Welbeck adding the third.

Klopp’s side have now gone winless in three consecutive games in all competitions, and he took the time to say sorry to the travelling support after the full-time whistle.

Following the defeat, former Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor revealed that he believes Liverpool might need a ‘new voice’ to lead the side.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: “I wanted to speak quickly about Liverpool because this season, they’ve not been the usual Liverpool.

“Last season, they played in every game possible going for four competitions. This season, they’re a million miles off it. They’ve had injuries, every club has had injuries.

“I look at Jurgen Klopp’s record at Mainz, he was there for seven years. Dortmund, was there for seven years. Liverpool, he’s been here for seven years nearly eight.

“I feel that, is this the time where Liverpool need a new voice? Are the players not responding to him? That team that was put out today, Alisson, Robertson, Konate, Matip, Trent, Henderson, Thiago, Fabinho, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gakpo, Salah.

“That team should not be losing 3-0 to Brighton. That team shouldn’t be having 38 per cent possession, two shots on target. Brighton had 240 more passes.

“Trent, he’s back to the Trent that we were saying didn’t want to defend. Today, he was getting ripped by Mitoma and he wasn’t even running back to try and help someone that’s covering for him.

“Liverpool were a shambles and Jurgen Klopp for me has got a lot to answer for.”

Liverpool now sit ninth in the Premier League table and seven points outside of the top four.

Up next for them is their FA Cup replay against Wolves, before they host fellow strugglers Chelsea at Anfield.
