2 Players Left from Klopp’s Squad

Jurgen Klopp’s first game in charge of Liverpool was an away match against Tottenham in October 2015, when he replaced Brendan Rodgers with the team sitting 10th in the Premier League. The only players left from Klopp’s arrival are Jordan Henderson and Joe Gomez. Henderson was signed by Kenny Dalglish in 2011 and became Liverpool captain four years later. He has since lifted every major trophy available to him, making 492 appearances in all competitions, tied with Roger Hunt in 15th place on the club’s all-time list. Gomez joined from Charlton in 2015 and is the only remaining player to have been signed by Rodgers. He has made 173 appearances across eight seasons for the Reds, despite a series of long-term injuries. He formed a formidable centre-back partnership with Virgil van Dijk en route to capturing the 19th league title in 2019/20. Klopp’s own contract is set to expire in 2026, which could see him outlast the entire squad that he inherited.
